April 30th 2008: Vicki Rocco Makes the Hollywood Reporter and Variety, too.

Whitewater Films and “Akeelah and the Bee” producer Reactor Films have optioned Vicki Rocco (ProSeries 12) and Amy Morland’s romantic comedy screenplay “The Transitional Guy.” See entire article in the Hollywood Reporter and then see the version in Variety!   And while you’re reading that, realize that someday, you’ll be there, too. 

April 2008: ProSeries Pair Team Up to Make Movie

April 2008: Mark Kratter Hired to Write Script

Writer/Producer Mark Kratter was hired to write a script by one of the producers of the movie MONSTER. See Mark’s IMDB.

March 2008: Steve Napora’s Script Optioned.

Steve Napora had his script optioned.  A producer posted a “Script wanted” notice to the ProSeries Alumni.  Steve responded and the producer loved Steve’s script. 

March 2008: Lauren Smith’s Movie Complete

Lauren Smith’s ProSeries script finishes production as a low-budget movie called Freshman Psych (See Lauren’s IMDB).  You can see it at www.freshmanpsych.com .

Feb. 2008: Nick Epstein Wins Academy Award

That’s right!  Nick Epstein won an Academy Award – for Special Effects (See Nick’s IMDB). Here’s his story: I work at FRAMESTORE in London, England (www.framestore-cfc.com). Feb. 2008: John Arends Lands Top Agent and Deal

After winning the Grand Prize at PAGE International, John Arends was signed by a top Los Angeles agent.  He also landed a paid writing assignment with a producer/director.  Way to go, John.

Jan. 2008: Alyssa Alexandria Project Greenlit

January 14, 2008:  Congratulations to Aly Alexandria, who just recently had her second movie greenlit with a $20 million budget (See Aly’s IMDB).  The script, KISS THE KILL, was her original ProSeries script and is moving forward with Nehst Studios.

January 2008: Matt Dixson gets Writing Assignment

Matt Dixson gets a paid rewrite assignment from a producer who works with Universal Studio.  He is currently doing a rewrite on the project.

January 2008: Don Macnab-Stark gets two paid writing assignments

Don Macnab-Stark gets two paid writing assignments — one is an adaptation for a French director and the other a documentary about Egypt. 

Dec. 21, 2007: Class 3 Entertainment Signs Reality TV Deal

Class 3 Entertainment signed a Reality TV deal to co-produce Boyd Coddington’s Garage (formerly known as American Hotrod on TLC).   The deal is a co-production with WA-TV, who has numerous shows on ESPN, SPEED, TLC, and other networks.

Dec. 4, 2007: Doc Giesselmann lands Beverly Hills Agent

Dec. 4, 2007:  Congratulations to Doc Giesselmann in Mobile, Alabama who used one of our ProSeries strategies for getting a recommendation and now has an agent in Beverly Hills, CA. 

Dec. 2007: Jill Maxey gets Distribution Deal

Congratulations to Jill Maxey, who recently got a distribution deal for her next movie.  She is currently co-writing a script for Sobini Films, a division of Lions Gate. She has also recently directed a low budget film that already has a distribution deal.

Sept. 2007: John Arends wins PAGE International

Sept. 2007:  John Arends wins the Grand Prize at PAGE International for a script he rewrote in our Rewrite class called SOLOMON’S WHALE.   His prize is $10,000.

Sept. 2007: Yarrow Wayman Wins Moondance

Yarrow Wayman won the Starfish award at Moondance for her ProSeries script called MESSIAH #247. 

August, 2007: Alexis Niki publishes screenwriting book

Congratulations to ProSeries writer Alexis Niki who just published a book called “101 Screenwriting Tips.”   It is a quick reference tool that giv! es excellent advice in bite-size pieces and…I was quoted in it.  Well worth having next to your computer and it is only ten bucks.  Check it out at http://www.thethirddraft.com/101-tips/ .

August, 2007: Deb Stenard Optioned…

Deb Stenard has her ProSeries script optioned by Random Girls Productions.  The script is titled A SNOWBALL’S CHANCE.   Congrats Deb.
